At Orthodontic Specialy Services we use Smart Clip™ Self-Ligating Braces.
Smart Clip™ braces are different. They don't use ligatures to hold the archwire... they're self-ligating! Instead of elastic bands, Smart Clip™ braces use small metal clips to hold the archwire into the bracket! But Don't worry you can still have colored elastic bands, if you want!
What is Smart Clip™ or Self-Ligating?
With these appliances, ligatures are no longer needed. Ligatures are the rubber bands and wire ties that we attach the wires to the brackets. When using rubber bands and wire ties, it is much harder for patients to keep their appliances clean. With Smart Clip™, patients have the ability to keep their teeth and gums healthier. Also, tooth movement is more efficient and the patient requires fewer visits to the orthodontist's office.
How does this benefit me or my child?
With this technology, appointments are only needed every eight weeks, while treatment may last about 18 months. Traditional appliances require the use of rubber bands which are called ligatures to attach the archwire in place. When these ligatures are used, they stretch, discolor and trap food, requiring the orthodontist to change them more frequently. Smart Clip™ brackets have two metal clips to secure the archwire in place, thus eliminating the need for elastics, and reducing your need for appointments to roughly every eight weeks.
I don't want all that metal in my mouth. What other options do I have?
If you're concerned with what has been called "metal mouth", we have your answer. Smart Clip™ has a ceramic bracket available. Another great benefit of the Smart Clip™ bracket is the elimination of stained elastics. When using elastics with traditional brackets, the ligatures would often stain when eating or drinking certain foods and drinks. With the Smart Clip™ Ceramic brackets, you don’t have to worry about your teeth looking yellow or brown.

In-Ovation System Braces
Having an attractive smile is important to most people. Crooked and misaligned teeth can be a great source of embarrassment and social discomfort. When the only alternative to crooked teeth is spending years wearing unattractive “traditional” metal braces, it can be hard to decide what to do. Fortunately, the In-Ovation® L MTM System provides a third alternative: invisible lingual braces.
Lingual braces are attached to the tongue side of the teeth, which makes them a great alternative to aligning trays for minor defects. In-Ovation® lingual braces have proven very effective for patients requiring less than 6mm of tooth movement.
